The Old Fashioned is concocted by muddling sugar with bitters, adding whiskey with a twist of citrus rind garnish.
You’ll need:
- 2 tea spoons of demerara sugar
- A dash of Bitter Truth aromatic bitters
- An orange rind for twisting
- 60ml Woodford Reserve bourbon whiskey
- Ice cubes
Now, let’s get to it:
- Grab your old fashioned glass and add 2 x teaspoons of the sugar
- Add a dash of bitters
- Twist your orange rind to release (or activate) the juice and pop the rind into the mixture
- Next, add 25ml of bourbon whiskey
- Add an ice cube and stir
- Repeat: add another 25ml bourbon whiskey, ice & stir
- Repeat step 6
- For the final time, repeat step 6. So, you have used your full 60ml of bourbon whiskey
- Add ice to your main serving glass
- Then strain your mixture over ice
- Twist another orange rind, pop it in and serve
